History Of Baptism

Baptism is a black metal band from Finland. The band was formed in 1998 by vocalist/guitarist Lord Sargofagian and drummer Demonium. The summer of that year the band released their first demo, Satanic Rituals, although very few copies were released. Following a two year hiatus the band released their second demo, Sons of Ruin & Terror, in 2000. Similar to the last demo the release was limited. After the addition of bassist Slaughterer the band released their first full length album, The Beherial Midnight, on June 12, 2002. 2004 would see three releases, from the band, a split CD with Uncreation's Dawn and the EPs Wisdom & Hate and Black Ceremony. The band released their second full length album in 2005 entitled Morbid wings of Sathanas. Currently Slaughterer and Demonium have left the band leaving Lord Sargofagian as the only official member.

1349

1349 formed in 1997 and comprises several former members of the band Alyheim. Their drummer, Frost, is also a member of Satyricon.

1349 tour on a regular basis; their live shows often begin with drummer Frost and guitarist Archaon fire-breathing. In recognition of their influences, the band performed a cover of Mayhem's "Buried by Time and Dust" on their debut album, Liberation. At their live shows they have also covered Celtic Frost, the band that vocalist Ravn cites as his principal influence.

In 2006, they toured the USA with Celtic Frost. Ravn also appeared on Celtic Frost's 2006 album, Monotheist, performing guest vocals on the CD digipack bonus track, "Temple of Depression". In 2007, during the French Hellfest festival, they were slated to play during the day, but asked to reschedule their appearance to play in the dark instead. During their appearance at the Oslo Inferno Metal Festival on March 2008, the band was joined on stage by Celtic Frost frontman Tom Gabriel Fischer for a rendition of the Celtic Frost song "The Usurper".       

In September 2008 they toured with Carcass, Suffocation, Aborted and Rotten Sound titled as the Exhume to Consume Tour.

A music video of 1349's song 'Sculptor of Flesh' was released following the band's 2005 album, Hellfire. The video, directed by Judd Tilyard, alternates between footage of the band performing the song in Norway and clips of surgery filmed in Australia.

During the winter of 2008 the band recorded their long awaited fourth album Revelations of the Black Flame.^[6] The album is co-mixed by Tom Gabriel Fischer, and was released in Europe on 25 May 2009. Revelations of the Black Flame marked a change in direction for the band as songs on the album were slower than previous releases and there were also some dark ambient and industrial tinged tracks.

At the beginning of 2010 the band signed a contract with Indie Recordings for the release of their fifth album in Europe, with Prosthetic Records distributing the album in North America.

1349 toured with Cannibal Corpse, Skeletonwitch and Lecherous Nocturne on the Evisceration Plague Tour, in April–May 2010. The band also performed at the Wacken Open Air and Summer Breeze Open Air festivals in August 2010.

1349 released their fifth full length album Demonoir on 26 April 2010. The album shows a return to their earlier hyperspeed sound before Revelations of the Black Flame, while continuing its low-fi production and ambient sensibilities.

They toured Canada and the United States with Tom Gabriel Fischer's project Triptykon in October 2010.

A deluxe box set of Demonoir was released in October 2011. The band's first live DVD was released 24 October 2011 on Candlelight Records, titled Hellvetia Fire – The Official 1349 Bootleg. It was filmed at Bikini Test La chaux De Fonds in Switzerland in 2005.
